Electrical estimates are count-heavy and detail-driven: hundreds of fixtures, thousands of feet of conduit and wire, and a one-line diagram that determines the expensive equipment. US Civil Genix prepares electrical estimates and takeoffs for electrical subcontractors and general contractors across the United States, with dedicated New Jersey and New York coverage.
What an electrical takeoff includes
- Branch and feeder raceway — conduit by type (EMT, rigid, PVC) and size, with fittings and supports; feeder runs measured from the one-line and floor plans
- Conductors — wire and cable by size and insulation, with makeup and termination counts
- Devices and connections — receptacles, switches, junction boxes and equipment connections counted by type from plans and schedules
- Lighting — fixtures by type from the fixture schedule, with controls (sensors, dimming, emergency) itemized
- Distribution equipment — panelboards, transformers, switchboards, disconnects and metering from the one-line and schedules
- Systems — fire alarm devices and low-voltage rough-in (data, security, AV) counted separately so they can be bid, bought or excluded cleanly
Deliverables follow CSI Division 26 (with Div 27/28 systems separated), organized by floor, area or panel where the drawings support it, with assumptions and exclusions stated.
Labor that matches the job
Where a priced estimate is required, labor is developed from the counts with productivity assumptions your estimator can see and adjust — and on New Jersey and New York public work, electrician labor is extended at the applicable prevailing-wage determination (NJDOL, NYS DOL or NYC Comptroller schedule). What documents do you need?
Electrical drawings (power and lighting plans, one-line, schedules, details) and Division 26 specifications. Architectural reflected ceiling plans help verify fixture counts.
Do you include fire alarm and low voltage?
Counted separately by default — included, excluded or broken out as alternates depending on how you bid the scope. The boundary is always stated in the deliverable.
How do you handle design-build or incomplete drawings?
We quantify what is drawn, state assumptions for what is implied (circuiting, homeruns), and flag scope that cannot be measured — so you know what is priced and what remains a design allowance.
Can quantities be organized by panel or area?
Yes — by floor, area, panel or bid item, whichever matches your buyout and field plan.
